Mindfulness Bumper Sticker
Target: I can define mindfulness. Directions: Using the information from the Mindfulness Web Quest (portaportal.com---mindfulness), create a bumper sticker that shows your understanding of what mindfulness means. Create a clever phrase or slogan and add a picture if that help to show your understanding of the word. Here is the T-Chart that we came up with in class to help you get started: What Mindfulness is: What Mindfulness is not: -paying attention -not paying attention -non-judgemental awareness -judging what you see -being in the present moment -being in the past or future -focusing on one thing -distracted, not focusing on one thing -seeing clearly -not seeing clearly -breaking old behaviors and habits -falling into old behaviors and habits DUE: Sequences 2 and 3---THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 28 Sequence 1 and 5---FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 29 Below is an example of a bumper sticker: Have fun and be creative!!!

Continue to C.A.T.P. (Make Connections--Ask Questions--Translate--Predict)/ Annotate the poem. Begin to think about theme ideas and write a few on the back of the poem. Here is the poem below: THE GUEST HOUSE This being human is a guest house. Every morning a new arrival. A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor. Welcome and entertain them all! Even if they are a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture, still, treat each guest honorably. He may be clearing you out for some new delight. The dark thought, the shame, the malice. meet them at the door laughing and invite them in.
