MS. COLELLA'S ELA CLASS
Writer's Notebook Entry for tonight:
Make sure you finish "Top Ten Best Life Events" and "Top Ten Worst Life Events".
Star the ones you think you can write about for an extended time.
Pick one to write a full entry for tonight. Spend at least 30 minutes writing about it.
What makes a good story?
Make sure you wrote ideas in your green folder if you missed class today.
Then watch the following TEDTalk and write the eleven things that make a good story:
Next, you will need a copy of The Rule of Write About a Pebble. This will be glued into your Writer's Notebook.
Make sure you pick up a copy of Todd Strasser's "Squid Girl" to read. Sorry--no links for this.
Complete your Territory Map with added details (adjectives or an added word next to what you initially labeled). Add words that trigger more memories.
Reread your writing from class based on your map and add more as you begin to recall more.
Personalize the cover of your Writer's Notebook for Thursday (Friday for sequence 2).
Make sure you have reserved pages for a Table of Contents, numbered all the pages, reviewed and glued the Writer's Notebook Expectations inside the front cover.
