Due to the Kid Wind Challenge taking place on Friday, the final draft literary analysis essay
(with first draft, planning papers, self-assessed rubric and graphic organizer) will be due on Monday, April 3. --Continue to draft --Complete a first draft in order to get feedback --Make revisions for the final draft (show significant (strong claims, clear explanations...) changes to first draft! Planning for the Introduction: Hook: (Begin with a sentence that "hooks" the reader--a question, strong statement, quote, etc.) Brief Summary of the short story/Author/Title Thesis Planning for the conclusion: Restate the thesis (try to reword it, rephrase it...) Restate each claim in a new way (reword, rephrase...) Final sentence gets the reader thinking about the theme in a new way.

At this point, begin drafting!! See me for help in the mornings if you need. THANK YOU! First complete reading and annotating "The Princess and the Puma" by O. Henry (CATP & Identifying literary devices) Next, fill out the literary device tracker. This will help you begin to think about the author's purpose for including the literary devices and set you up for your literary analysis essay. Begin to plan out your literary essay! You pick the story to analyze--either "The Necklace" by Guy de Maupassant or "The Princess and the Puma" by O. Henry. For exceeds, you can compare/contrast both stories. See below for rubric/planning/and more resources to help you! First and Second drafts along with planning/graphic organizers will be due: Friday, March 31st. This is for ALL classes--even if we don't meet as a class (it will be a week of MEAs which means a wacky schedule). This is mainly independent work, but please come visit me in the mornings, TLT, or afternoons for any questions!!
